Korean Inspired Short Ribs

Korean Inspired Short Ribs are a quick and flavorful dinner option, marinated in a blend of soy sauce, pear, and ginger for a taste explosion. I love making these because they remind me of impromptu dinners with friends; they're simple, flavorful, and always a hit. The juicy ribs paired with sesame seeds and scallions transport me right to Seoul.

The Recipe

Instructions

  1. 1

In a blender, add the peeled and diced pear, garlic cloves, onion, brown sugar, black pepper, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cayenne pepper, olive oil, and salt. Blend until smooth to make the marinade.

  2. 2

Add the marinade to a bag with the short ribs. Let it marinate for at least a few hours, but preferably overnight.

  3. 3

Lightly grease a skillet and heat until super hot. Add the marinated short ribs.

  4. 4

Sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Once one side cooks, flip the ribs over, sprinkle more sesame seeds, and cook the other side. Total cooking time should be about five minutes.

  5. 5

Serve the short ribs with steamed rice and vegetables of your choice. Top with scallions or green onions, or use parsley if preferred.

Helpful Notes

  • Marinate the short ribs overnight for maximum flavor.
  • Use any vegetables you have on hand to complement the dish.
