Creamy Potato Puree

Creamy Potato Puree is the ultimate homemade side dish for a comforting Thanksgiving spread, featuring rich butter and smooth cream cheese.     Add some salt to a pot of water, then add in your potatoes once it's still cold. This way the potatoes cook more evenly.

    Once they're cooked, strain them, add them back with some butter, and gradually add in some heavy cream and whole milk.

    Mash it and add some cream cheese, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, mix, and continue to mash.

    Now use an immersion hand blender or throw it in the blender. Give it a quick pulse and add in some cream while doing it.

Helpful Notes

  • Overmixing the potatoes releases too much starch, making them gummy. A quick pulse with the blender is sufficient.
